Meet Anthony

Anthony Nicodemo is a proud 20-year resident of Yonkers, deeply committed to public service, education, and community advocacy. A lifelong educator, Anthony has dedicated his career to teaching special education and social studies, ensuring that all students—regardless of background or ability—have the opportunity to succeed.


For more than 20 years, Anthony has also served as a respected basketball coach, including 10 years at Saunders High School, where his leadership on and off the court earned him recognition as Yonkers Coach of the Year and Lower Hudson Basketball Coaches Association Coach of the Year. His commitment to service and social justice has been honored with the John Martino Service Award and the Willie Worsley Social Justice Award. He has additionally served as an Athletic Director, further demonstrating his dedication to student development and school communities.

A proven political and civic leader, Anthony is the President of the Hudson Valley Stonewall Democrats, Vice Chair and District Leader of the Yonkers Democratic Committee, and Vice Chair of the Westchester County Democratic Committee. He is a proud member of the LGBTQ community and a founding board member of the Sports Equality Foundation. Anthony also serves as Chair of Mayor Mike Spano’s LGBTQ Advisory Board, working to advance equity and inclusion across Yonkers. His advocacy has earned him the Ally Award from The LOFT LGBTQ+ Community Center and the GLSEN Community Service Award.

Anthony is also a strong voice for working families and organized labor. He serves as President of Greenburgh–North Castle United and as Executive Director for ED 16 on the NYSUT Board of Directors, where he fights for educators, students, and public services throughout New York State. Rooted in Yonkers for two decades, Anthony Nicodemo’s life’s work reflects a steadfast commitment to education, equality, labor rights, and community leadership.
